Dr. Marrazzo and Dr. Fienga, representing the OptoPowerLab Group, recently attended a workshop at CERN focused on fiber optic sensor technologies and their applications in advanced monitoring systems.
During the workshop, they delivered a talk on the long-standing collaboration between the OptoPowerLab Group and the CMS experiment, highlighting more than a decade of joint activities. The presentation focused on the installation and use of numerous fiber optic sensors for the structural monitoring of the beam pipe, underlining the contribution of these technologies to reliable and continuous assessment in a highly demanding experimental environment.
A second talk was dedicated to the presentation of an innovative fiber optic sensor-based system designed to comply with CERN safety standards. The proposed solution aims to provide an advanced and robust approach for monitoring applications, combining technological innovation with the strict operational requirements of large-scale research infrastructures.
The visit represented an important opportunity for scientific exchange and for strengthening the collaboration between OptoPowerLab and CERN, further confirming the role of fiber optic sensing technologies in the development of safe, reliable, and high-performance monitoring systems.
